Kids and costumes Welcome! Join Lisa F. for this special event where Yoga meets Halloween. We can fly like ghosts and witches and cast calming spells for our minds and bodies!

Kids under 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult 18 and over. Waiver forms will be available for each child along with a special Halloween treat :)

Halloween Yoga will take place during the regular weekly Beginners class. Regular class packages, memberships, and drop-in rates apply.

Breath-Work + Aromatherapy + Personal Narrative

This is a holistic collaboration of THREE practices united with one intention: to explore the power of uniting in one effort of awakening the senses, to connect with an elevated state of awareness that evokes clarity and healing.

Each of the three impart healing individually, and as a whole, when experienced in unison, these methods have the power of connecting us to a heightened level of consciousness, where awakening through listening, expressing, being present with heartfelt words;  written, spoken, tasted and smelled, we hope to birth forth a fresh, experience for your self care.

 

Plan for the Evening

Warm Welcome, Introductions where you will be lead through a lovely contemplative breathing practice that will open up your heart to listen deeply. 

We will awaken to the moment while connecting to our senses and experience the child within us. The experiences of life have brought you to this particular place, at this particular juncture in time. Breath-Work Meditation

Surround yourself with nature’s healing powers.

Surround yourself with nature’s healing powers.

 We will explore the healing properties of the various oils and will venture in, to an intuitive process of creating a blend that inspires us and can go with us into our lives. You will be invited to observe, even reflect on what occurs within you when connecting to the oil.

We will listen to the refining process involved in arriving at the medicinal properties in the oils, from the author of “Aromatherapy, The Scent of Life,” Victoria Schneider.

Personal Narrative Journey

Record what has been stirred up and gathered from our time of meditation, open channels of breath, combined with mindfully blended aromas. We will be prompted to witness these reflections in the light of one another’s presence.

We will witness a collective rising of intention that will inspire us as we move toward manifesting our personal expression at it’s essence, in the form of a:

Body Butter / Room Spray / Yoga Mat Cleaner

Each one of us will take our personal seed, in the form of a word, phrase or mantra, and reveal it’s accompanying aroma blend as our own custom-made gift for ourselves or for those we love.

This divine process of discovery will unfold as we gather around and solidify our intention through a closing meditation.

Closing Meditation & Blessing

These culminating moments of connection will be experienced together as we celebrate the gift of life through the union of the following three components: breath, fragrance, and personal narrative. 

You will be taking with you a “theme,” sealed with your personalized reminder of the higher purpose of your life: a sample of your fragrance: to see your intention through.

Speaking forth our written word  and experiencing the inspired healing of listening and being heard.

This unifying moment, catalyzes growth within each person, as it collectively empowers us to break new ground as individuals in our life purpose and as a whole, toward the greater common good of our Chicagoland Home.

During this seven week immersion, we will explore 7 of the focal points of energies within the subtle body. Of the 72000 nadis, or pathways where prana flows through, there are 114 prominent chakras. Of those, many are familiar with the 7 major chakras: root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, crown.

Each week, we will dive into the unique qualities of each of these channels, allowing our practice to draw our awareness in toward the connections between the physical plane and the subtle plane. 

By embodying the healing qualities of each of these concentrated energy vortexes, we can channel the essence that they possess. The intention of this series is to cultivate the experiential understanding of the chakras, allowing us to integrate our sacred practice off of the mat; to share love and light with all beings.

This week we will explore the blissful energy of sahasrara, the crown chakra.

This workshop takes place during the regular Thursday, 7:30pm class. All regular class packages, pricing, and membership apply.

Join us for a Hoopyogini™ playshop each month to celebrate the new moon!

Hoopyogini™ is a holistic fitness program integrating hula hooping with Hatha Yoga and mindfulness meditation. This doctor approved movement meditation/conditioning experience utilizes the modern adult-sized hula hoop for flow, self-awareness and as a functional fitness tool to stretch and strengthen the body.

The following descriptions are the break down of the parts that make up the entire HoopYogini program. Each one of these parts can be taught separate or integrated together. Based on who is attracted to this class will depend on which parts the audience can advance to, but each month will build new skills and moves which will then flow into freedom to move from a centered and creative process and expression. 

HoopYogini™ Spinal Awakening Series 

A standing six posture flow that tones the core and moves the spine to it’s full range of motion thus improving posture and relieving back pain. 

HoopYogini™ From The Core

Waist hooping as a massage, fitness and meditation that burns 400-600 calories an hour, provides workout, develops the core and improves posture.

HoopYogini™ Integrative Cool Down 

Integrate the benefits of your HoopYogini™ practice and release residual tension from the body in this six posture flow exploring familiar Hatha Yoga postures such as Wide Leg Standing Forward Fold, Triangle Pose and Pyramid Pose.

HoopYogini™ Alchemy & Flow 

All HoopYogini™ moves can be linked into a flowing dance. This flow emerges from one’s return to their Centered Pose. From the center, authentic movement is inspired and the practitioner learns how to feel and return to their core as access point to their intuition and wisdom. From here, they remember how to respond rather than react to life’s changes and challenges.

THE HEALING POWER OF ART MAKING

To heal the deepest roots of emotional pain we need to gain access to the encouraging imagery that arises from our creative unconscious mind.  Our connection to our authenticity comes through our innate spontaneity.

Rita Nathanson worked as a studio potter for 20 years making functional pottery, teaching and exhibiting in Colorado and Illinois. She completed graduate work in ceramics at Colorado State University in the mid-70’s and a masters degree in Art Therapy at UIC in 1995.

Her art therapy work from 1995 to the present has been with children and adults in hospitals, psychiatric units, foster care, schools and with the poor and survivors of trauma.

Beyond the Mat:  Just Breathe

Join us as we discuss incorporating Yoga into our everyday lives.  Going beyond the mat, beyond the postures, and seeing Yoga as a way of living.  The first hour Lisa will share her experience with finding breath as such a useful tool for her when her mat and physical practice felt unattainable.  She will then open the space for others to share and discuss.  We will complete the second hour with a variation of breathing exercises followed by a calming flow for the mind, body and soul to rejuvenate.
